Presentation

Born in 1987, I discovered an interest in art nine years later. This hobby transformed into a passion. Self taught, I rapidly understood my capabilities, and and in order to increase my knowledge I attended various studios to refine my sense of observation and learn diverse techniques.

Growing up in the cognac region of the Charente, I showed my work to many artists, who in turn, greatly encouraged me to continue.
Gaining the bac litteraire in 2005, I commenced studying the history of art.
The licence was obtained three years later, in June 2008 at the University of Tours. This gave me the knowledge to understand the œuvres of the old masters. At the same time I attended l’Atelier du Peintre of Francoise Prieur on Tours for three years and was exceedingly beneficial.
I have worked hard on perfecting my sense of observation, and have drawn and completed many life studies with live models so as to learn the techniques necessary to complete an academic apprentice.

With strong support and much encouragement, I have decided to concentrate my professional life on reproduction paintings of great artists and to carry out individual and professional art commissions.

To understand a painting it is important to know the context. A historical and artistic understanding is necessary in order to understand the subject and the soul of the artists work. To understand the subject and the role of the characters in the picture will avoid the errors of interpretation. It is necessary to have an adequate knowledge of the commissioned work of art. For example, to understand the person in the portrait facilitates the perception of his regard, if it is necessary to increase it, to depict a strong or mellow character. The detail of the regard doesn’t need to be changed much, but it is of the greatest importance. This is valid for all subjects to display these attitudes, and to show certain elements in portraiture.
When making a copy, the observation needs to be intense in order to reproduce a work of art, true to the original. However, to know the artist, their style, their works of art and their technique is fundamental. A copy must be true to that, and resemble the original and its aura.

When I make my own paintings, I like to work with the colours in the figuratif, I would like firstly that my works of art affect the viewer’s feelings. For me, it is not necessary to understand completely the work of art but more importantly to feel. To see, to look at, and to be present in front of a work of art must provoke emotion in the viewer. This is what I search for when I paint. This mastery takes a long time, lots of experience, but with the time that passes my creativity and technique asserts my confidence.

I leave you to discover at your pleasure my creations on line, a selection of commissions and personal works of art. There is a ‘livre d’or’ at your disposition for your comments.
